Tuscany. Volterra

Located up the hill, Volterra needs patience to get there. The roads are winding until you stop, but it’s all worth it, as the views get better with “every breath you take, every move you make”. You just keep going up, until the moment where there’s no more up and down is all you would love to see. A hay colored valley, green trees, and one lonely villa hidden in between.

If I were a saint, I would like to think that this is somewhere on the way to heaven, but only for those who have been good. It is a one day or even less trip. Have a stop at a local and hidden pizzeria Da Nanni (Via delle Prigioni 40) and espresso in La Cittadella while the kids are melting along with gelato from l'Isola del gusto (Via Antonio Gramsci 3). Yes, it is very touristy, but the views are spectacular and the pizza and gelato is good, too. The best there is.
