Boulangerie Marcel

Every time I pass by this boulangerie, I stop and look inside the window. I like to take a moment and simply admire. Admire the beauty this place offers in the pâtisserie field, as their fame is based on recreating nature into the shape of a cake. It is always exciting to see what they have made.

Although some classics such as peanut, pistachio, lemon, and other cakes are available almost all the time, everything else depends on the season. And, please understand that I do not talk about a simple cake with a peanut taste. No. I talk about a cake that looks like a peanut and is made from peanuts. A cake that looks like a lemon or a giant strawberry, raspberry, or small sized mango. Their resemblance to the real fruit is amazing and breathtaking. As is the taste, because most of the time, it is not just a soft mousse or cream that is hidden inside. There are layers of textures — crunchy, moist, creamy, crispy, and others, as that is what makes the experience much more interesting. Yes, Boulangerie Marcel is one of the rare places in Lyon offering cakes like these — pleasing to the eye and incredibly tasty. Masterpieces even.

At the same time, that is not all they have and one should try there. Croissant, pain au chocolat, pain suisse, and cookie croissant are most certainly in the must-try list. As are other things that I leave for you to judge. I encourage you to pay a visit to the 6th arrondissement, enjoying all it offers, including this place.
