The Mill

The Mill

Having come back after a few years, The Mill has not lost its charm, not even a bit. It was 2016 when we sat inside chatting with Joesy (the owner who was so sweet and gave me his book, too) and knew that if we ever came back to SF, this place would be on our list. After years of working, the place had gotten even more charming. It was one place we knew we would take the kids to when in San Francisco and here we were, arriving after a walk from hotel to the Painted Ladies for a sit-down breakfast with fantastic coffee, in-house cold tea, and slices of bread served with classics like avocado and sea salt or homemade hazelnut cream. While we liked to linger in our memories of our first visit here and ordered the slices, the girls “returned” to Europe and enjoyed croissants and pain au chocolate with the birds under the table. We sat outside in the corner of the terrace while cars drove past on Divisadero Street, dogs came for hugs, and people chatted about their daily routine at next table. Off the beaten track, this place is more local and that way even more special.
